Yves Bissouma, born on August 30, 1996, is a professional footballer currently playing as a defensive midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. Although born in Ivory Coast, he represents the Mali national team. Bissouma’s early football journey saw him training at the Majestic SC academy in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. By the time he turned 18, he had moved on to AS Real Bamako in Mali. In 2016, Bissouma’s talent was recognized by French scouts during the African Nations Championship. Lille OSC signed him in July 2016 to his first professional contract, for three years.

In July 2018, Bissouma made a transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League, signing a five-year contract. His debut for Brighton came in a 2018–19 Premier League match against Watford. Bissouma continued to make his mark at Brighton. His contributions helped Brighton secure their highest-ever Premier League point tally at that time. In August 2022, Tottenham Hotspur signed Bissouma for a 30 million pound deal on a four-year contract. He made his debut for Tottenham in August 2022, entering the field as a substitute during a 4–1 win over Southampton.

In the 2023–24 season, he started strongly, earning consecutive Man of the Match awards in matches against Brentford and Manchester United. On the international stage, Bissouma moved to Mali at the age of 13 to pursue his football career. He played for Mali in the 2016 African Nations Championship, notably scoring a crucial goal in the semi-final against Ivory Coast. He was also part of Mali’s squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, making appearances as they reached the round of 16.
