Wataru Endō, born on February 9, 1993, is a Japanese professional footballer renowned for his role as a defensive midfielder and serves as the captain of the Japan national team. Starting at Shonan Bellmare, he helped them regain promotion to the J1 League and showcased his skills with 23 goals in 167 appearances.

Endō then moved to Urawa Red Diamonds, winning titles like the 2016 J.League Cup and the prestigious 2017 AFC Champions League. During his time there, he scored six goals in 109 matches. Subsequently, he joined Belgian Pro League side Sint-Truiden in 2018 before being loaned to VfB Stuttgart in 2019, which later signed him permanently.
