Rico Lewis, born on November 21, 2004, is an English professional footballer who currently plays for the Premier League club Manchester City. Born in Bury, Greater Manchester, Lewis is a huge Manchester City supporter, Lewis joined the club’s academy at the age of eight and later became a part of their under-18 squad at 15. His leadership skills shone as he captained the team during the 2021-22 season. Lewis made his debut appearance on the bench for Manchester City during the opening match of the 2022-23 season. His Premier League debut followed a week later on August 13, 2022, against AFC Bournemouth, where he came on as a substitute for Kyle Walker.

He also marked his Champions League debut on October 5, 2022, against Copenhagen, substituting for Joao Cancelo. Lewis received his first start in the Champions League on November 2, 2022, where he scored City’s first goal in a 3-1 comeback victory against Sevilla. This achievement made him the youngest-ever scorer on a first start in a Champions League match and Manchester City’s youngest-ever Champions League scorer, achieving this feat at the age of 17 years and 346 days.

Lewis became the youngest-ever English Champions League winner and the youngest-ever treble winner with Manchester City. Lewis has showcased his talent on the international stage as well. In September 2021, he scored for the England national under-18 team in a draw against Wales. On September 21, 2022, he made his under-19 debut in a 2-0 victory over Montenegro during the 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualification in Denmark. Furthermore, Lewis made his under-21 debut on March 28, 2023, in a 2-1 defeat to Croatia at Craven Cottage.
