Matheus Luiz Nunes, commonly known as Nunes, is a Brazilian-born professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Manchester City in the Premier League and represents the Portugal national team. He began his football journey in Ericeirense, a local team in Portugal, where he also worked at a bakery to support his family. Nunes later joined Estoril and made his debut in the LigaPro before moving to Sporting CP in January 2019.

At Sporting, Nunes achieved considerable success, including winning the Primeira Liga and Taças da Liga in 2021 and 2022. He also played a pivotal role in Sporting’s UEFA Champions League campaign. In August 2022, he transferred to Wolverhampton Wanderers for a club-record fee. However, during the 2023-24 season, Nunes faced a dispute with Wolves over a potential transfer to Manchester City.
