Tottenham Hotspur could be the perfect destination for Adama Traore if the move goes through

Traore blossomed under Nuno Espirito in Wolves and he could take his game to the next level if he plays alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min at Spurs.

As per the reports coming in, Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santos is keen to bring in Adama Traore from his former club Wolverhampton Wanderers FC. Spurs are looking for an attacking player in the transfer market and given the fact that Traore blossomed under Santos in Wolves he is a priority target for the Lilywhites. The 25-year-old could be a very good addition to Nunos’ side and could give them a cutting edge going forward. On Sunday, the Tottenham supporters once again witnessed the brilliance of Traore in Spurs’ 1-0 win at Wolves.

Even Though Spurs won the game they can count themselves lucky not to have conceded goals. Traore produced a world-class performance at Molineux stadium but his teammates couldn’t cash in.

A Barcelona academy product up until the age of 19, Traore moved to England in 2015 when he came over to Aston Villa. At that time his value was in the range of around 10 million euros. Despite a stacked squad at that time, the Spanish giants felt strongly about the winger’s talent and therefore put a three-year buy-back clause in his contract.

His first season at England in Villa Park was riddled with injuries and then he moved to the Riverside Stadium. It was at Middlesbrough that he really started to shine. And then newly promoted Wolves brought him for the 2018-19 season.

Traore grew into a prominent player at Wolves and became a consistent starter alongside the likes of various skillful attacking players like Diogo Jota, Raul Jimenez, and most recently Pedro Neto. His best season with the Wanderers was in 2019-20, when he helped his team to a second-consecutive seventh-place finish in the Premier League, netting four times and registered nine assists.

Although the stats may not be so great, his impact on the field certainly is. The winger can take on the best defence in the world with his exceptional pace and brutal strength. Therefore it is no surprise that Spurs prefer to bring in the Spanish international for a reported fee of GBP 40 million.

When the Wolves finished seventh in the 2019-20 Premier League season they scored an impressive 51 goals. However in 2020-21 Wolves finished 13th and netted only 31 times and as a result they parted ways with Santos in the near future.

The clubs fall from the top half to the bottom half can be correlated to their inability to replace Jota, who went to Liverpool. And the club lacked a quality number nine after Jiminez got injured in November. Therefore the club went down from a potent attacking team to a dull outfit.

Traore could improve a lot alongside Son and Kane

If Traore joins Spurs, there could be many positives. Tottenham still have a high quality attacking line-up, consisting of the likes of Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Harry Kane.

Traore playing alongside top finishers like Kane and Son will only make him better and improve Tottenham’s chances of fighting with the elite in the League. In the first two League games against Manchester City and Wolves, Nuno has shown that his tactics are reliant on quick attacking players who can counter attack effectively. Son’s winning goal against Man City was an example of that.

Therefore Traore could be a perfect addition to the Spurs squad as he is one of the quickest players in world football and his combination of power and speed is very rare. If the 25-year-old could add a bit more quality to his final pass and finishing he could take his game to the next level under Nuno at Spurs.
