Takehiro Tomiyasu has enjoyed a great start to life in the Premier League after joining Arsenal in the recently shut summer transfer window. He had made the switch to the Premier League from Italian Serie A side Bologna. The Japan international has helped the side claim 10 out of a possible 12 points since arriving in N5. His impressive run of form meant that the right-back has quickly become a fan favourite among the Arsenal supporters. At just 22 years of age, Tomiyasu has his entire career ahead of him to make a name for himself among Arsenal and Premier League fans.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta only had good words to describe him, as he heaped praise on the Japan international. When asked what is Tomi like to manage? “A joy,” Arteta told Arsenal.com. “He is so excited, you can see that for him it is a dream to be here and he is doing it in the right manner, with the passion but with the right commitment, and as well with the right amount of self assurance that he is capable of doing it.

“I’m very impressed, he has done it in a really natural way. It puts a smile on your face when you look at him, for how he communicates, how he is. It’s not been easy for him, we asked him to come in and play after two days against Norwich, then we went to Burnley, then the north London derby… a lot has happened and I am really happy with him.

Arteta is happy that Tomiyasu has adapted extremely quickly to the demands of the Premier League. The manager has now challenged him to maintain that consistency and “keep improving” going forward. “For me [the Premier League] is the hardest to adapt to, and the hardest to stay at the top. That is the challenge. Now he has shown he has the right qualities, the right mentality and personality to play for this club and in this country, and he has to maintain that and keep improving.”

Arteta opens up about Wilshere training with them

The news that Jack Wilshere is back at London Colney has created a buzz among Arsenal supporters. Opening up about it, the team’s manager Arteta told the club website, “What you should believe is that we want to help Jack prepare for his next stage, physically, mentally.”

“He wants to do his coaching badges again and we are prepared to fulfil all the needs that he wants. That is basically the idea and it is no further than that. I am very happy to have him back. We had a conversation with Jack and understand the needs that he has, the period that he is going through and I think everyone at the club agreed it was the right moment to help him.

“We sat down with him and we listened to what he wanted to do and what stage he is and we are prepared to do anything we can to help him. He is going to be training sometimes with us, he is going to be around the place, he is going to be continuing his coaching badges that he is very interested in, try to get him fit, try to get his experiences across to our players, our young players, our academy and I think it is great influence to have around.”
