A high-flying Manchester United side will be keen to embark on another deep cup run when they play host to West Ham United in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The EFL Cup triumph over Newcastle United in the final on Sunday will still be fresh in the minds of United players. They would be keen to maintain that positive feeling when they face the Hammers in the FA Cup. However, one thing manager Erik ten Hag would not want for his side is to get complacent following the weekend trophy victory.

Hence, he would want his players to be completely focussed on this Wednesday night game and possibly go on another long run in a different cup competition. Either way, Manchester United players can take a lot of satisfaction in ending their six-year long wait for silverware after last winning a trophy in 2017. It was a Europa League triumph that year which they managed under then manager Jose Mourinho. Other than the FA Cup, United are also alive in the Europa League this season and are not far away from leaders Arsenal in the Premier League table.

This has prompted potential quadruple talks for Manchester United, with some supporters and pundits genuinely believing that they have what it takes to make the impossible possible. But in order to maintain quadruple dream alive they have to first beat West Ham United, which will not be an easy task. West Ham are fresh from trouncing Nottingham Forest 4-0 at the weekend. In the Premier League table, West Ham are sitting in the 16th place with 23 points from 24 games. Meanwhile, Manchester United are placed third with 49 points from 24 matches.
