The Parisians reportedly face the departure of a club legend, Kylian Mbappe. However, his leaving will clear off massive wages, and the club will have numerous options to strengthen their squad. While losing Mbappe, their all-time leading goalscorer and a global football icon, is undoubtedly a setback, the financial freedom from his potential departure opens the door for PSG to make significant investments in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Here are some players that PSG can target to start their post-Kylian Mbappe era:

Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)

If reports are to be believed, PSG has long been interested in Rashford, viewing him as a suitable option to fill the void left by Mbappe. Rashford’s style, especially his abilities in direct, counter-attacking football, aligns well with Luis Enrique’s tactics. However, despite the potential fit, a departure from Manchester United seems tough, given Rashford’s deep love for the club and a recent contract extension.

Rafael Leao (AC Milan)

Leao, while possessing different physical attributes, shares certain traits with Mbappe, such as excellent ball-carrying skills, good dribbling skills and the ability to thrive in open spaces. At 24, Leao offers room for further development and could be a promising option to replicate Mbappe’s influence at PSG.

Victor Osimhen (Napoli)

There are often rumours linking Osimhen with a departure from Napoli. Even though it remains unclear when he could leave the Italian outfit, there are already teams that are being linked with signing the tall striker. While Chelsea and Arsenal are allegedly interested in his transfer, PSG remains in contention as well. Tactically, he may not be a good fit as Osimhen excels as a central striker, and will potentially have to fight for his place with Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos. Nevertheless, if PSG prioritizes a top goalscorer to replace Mbappe, Osimhen is a strong candidate.

Raphinha (Barcelona)

Barcelona’s financial struggles may lead to a summer clearout, and Raphinha could become available. The Brazilian winger, who has faced reduced playing time at Barcelona, could be a valuable addition for PSG, offering creativity, goal-scoring ability, and skill on the wing. Barca’s need to raise funds may make Raphinha a good target for the right price.

Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal)

While Martinelli is a crucial part of Arsenal’s attacking trio, PSG’s financial flexibility could make him an attractive option. Although not as powerful as Leao or as clinical as Mbappe, Martinelli’s dynamic style on the left wing could bring a different dimension to PSG’s attack. His youth also provides room for further development within a more fluid system.

In summary, as PSG prepares for the post-Mbappe era, these players emerge as potential targets to reinforce their squad and maintain competitiveness at the top level.
