Even at this early in the season, Fantasy Premier League managers need to consider not just player rotation but also the possibility of players being suspended from their squads due to accumulated yellow cards. If a player receives five yellow cards in their team’s first 19 Premier League matches, they will have to sit out one game in the same competition. It’s important to note that these yellow cards do not carry over to the EFL Cup or FA Cup.

This season, Chelsea’s forward Nicolas Jackson is the first player to reach this suspension threshold, as he has received a yellow card in five out of the first six gameweeks. Meanwhile, Antony Gordon became the second player to collect five yellow cards and hence he’ll miss gameweek 8. Additionally, the highly-owned Bruno Fernandes, Pedro Neto, Destiny Udogie and Kaoru Mitoma have also collected three yellow cards.

Players in the Premier League who collect 10 yellow cards in matches up to and including their team’s 32nd fixture will face a two-match suspension in the competition. Now eligible for selection are Aaron Hickey (4.5m) and Nelson Semedo (4.5m), as they have served their respective one-match bans due to reaching the five-yellow card suspension threshold. Yves Bissouma (5.0m) may make a return for Tottenham Hotspur after missing the 2-0 victory over Fulham. He is available for the upcoming match against Crystal Palace. Additionally, Mario Lemina (4.9m), who received two yellow cards in Gameweek 8, is free to participate in the match against Newcastle United.
