We are now entering the second international break of the season following another eventful weekend of football. Manchester United secured a late victory over Brentford at Old Trafford. Scott McTominay (4.8m) scored crucial stoppage-time goals, somewhat masking another disappointing performance by Erik Ten Hag’s team in their 2-1 win. As always, we will discuss the key highlights of the weekend, focusing on the perspective of Fantasy Premier League.

Rashford, Bruno blanked once again

Bruno Fernandes (8.4m) and Marcus Rashford (8.8m), who are among the most widely owned United players, once again failed to produce points, leaving their fantasy owners frustrated. Over the last five fixtures, they have only managed two goals combined, despite facing teams like Brighton & Hove Albion (H), Burnley (A), Crystal Palace (H), and Brentford (H). Now, the question is whether you should give them one more chance against Sheffield United (A), a team struggling in the league, or if it’s time to part ways.

If we were to transfer one of them out, Rashford would be our choice. He has been substituted early in the last two league games and also in United’s Champions League match against Galatasaray. Fernandes, on the other hand, continues to play the full 90 minutes and is on penalty duty. If you are considering using your wildcard this week, it might be logical to remove them from your squad, as you would be planning for the long-term.

Bryan Mbeumo (6.8m) is another player who has been trusted by many managers but has now blanked in four consecutive gameweeks. However, similar to the United players, he has an favorable fixture next week against Burnley (H). Due to Mbeumo’s price, there isn’t as much urgency to transfer him out immediately. You can give him one more chance, but keep in mind that Brentford’s fixtures after Burnley are against Chelsea (A), West Ham (H), Liverpool (A), and Arsenal (H).

International Break

Injuries are common during international breaks as players travel around the world to represent their countries. It’s advisable to avoid making early transfers, regardless of how disappointing your previous gameweek was. This isn’t the only concern, though. Players like Darwin Nunez (7.4m), Julian Alvarez (7.0m), and Luis Diaz (7.5m) are scheduled to play their final international games on October 18, just three days before Gameweek 9. As a result, some of these players might be benched or fatigued upon their return, so keep an eye on their situations.
