Burnley have announced the signing of experienced goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux from Leyton Orient. He arrives at Turf Moor on a three-year deal which will see him stay at the club until at least 2026. He has played for different teams in the country and has been with the youth setup of Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur. Later, Vigouroux has also been a part of Swindon Town and Leyton Orient.

It is at Leyton Orient, Lawrence Vigouroux impressed massively and caught the eye of many people. Manager Vincent Kompany has expressed his happiness in getting the deal over the line. “We are looking forward to Lawrence being part of what we are building here at Burnley. He has come through top academy systems to become the player he is today with stand out performances in recent years. He is a very talented goalkeeper with a good personality and someone we will enjoy working with,” he was quoted as saying by the club’s website.

This was the right step: Lawrence Vigouroux

Lawrence Vigouroux is really happy with the move, as he is impressed with the club’s training ground and style of play. “It’s amazing to be here! Unbelievable training ground to be a part of. Really happy to be here. You only have to look around where we’re working and training every day. This was the right step and the right way to go. Hopefully I can leave an impression here. The style of play from last season. You could see from last season they have a really progressive style of play that I want to be a part of. I want to work and I want to improve,” he told burnleyfc.com.

Vigouroux also believes there is plenty of room for improvement in his game, as he believes distribution and playing as a sweeper are some of his main strengths. “I’m still young in terms of being a goalkeeper and I still feel I can get much better. After watching a lot of the games last season I feel I can work really hard here every day and hopefully get a chance to show my capabilities,” he added.

“I pride myself on distribution. It’s something that’s so important to me. I try to play really high, be a sweeper. Those are things in the modern game I think are really important and that’s what I try to model myself on. When you go to a top club you know where are going to be very very good players in all positions. It’s up to me to prove how good I am and how hard I can work to get my way into the team.”
