The Calling All Heroes: Challengers Cup goes to the finals. After some exhilarating matches in the 2nd qualifier round last weekend, the eight candidates are now determined. The Calling All Heroes: Challengers Cup: Checkout details.
The Overwatch Esports tournament “Calling All Heroes: Challengers Cup” was created specifically for women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community to give underrepresented genders an entry point into Overwatch Esports. After two nerve-racking qualifier rounds, the finalists for Calling All Heroes: Challengers Cup have finally been determined.
The “Calling All Heroes”-event is an extremely important milestone for the Overwatch league. Although half of all gamers are women, they are still extremely underrepresented in Esports. In most cases, this is because gaming is less accessible to women. They often experience a lot of sexism from other players or receive disparaging treatment because “gaming is a man’s thing”. Of course, this is not true, but the outdated mindset of some people makes it harder for women to be taken seriously in Esports.
The format consists of two qualifying rounds, from which four winners each qualify for the final round, where eight teams will ultimately fight for victory.
Now, that the two qualifier rounds have taken place, and determined eight winners, here are the finalists:
In the past weeks and months, these eight teams have fought their way to the top. Soon they will be able to crown the final winner when the grand finale takes place on December 11, 17, and 18. All finalists will share a total prize pool of $25,000, with the 1st place taking home $10,000.
