Spy Classroom Anime Set for Second Season in July, First Season Rebroadcasting Soon

Fans of the “Spy Classroom” anime adaptation can rejoice as the series is set to return for a second season this July. The news was announced by the show’s staff along with a teaser visual and video for the upcoming season.

The first season of the anime premiered on January 5 in Japan, and it was streamed by HIDIVE as it aired. Tokyo MX will begin rebroadcasting the first season on April 19. This will give viewers who missed the initial airing a chance to catch up before the second season begins.

Returning Cast and Staff

The second season of “Spy Classroom” will feature the same cast as the first season. Sora Amamiya will reprise her role as Lily, Yuichiro Umehara as Klaus, Miku Itō as Grete, Nao Tōyama as Sibylla, Aoi Yūki as Monika, Sumire Uesaka as Thea, Ayane Sakura as Sara, and Tomori Kusunoki as Annett.

Director Keiichiro Kawaguchi, known for his work on “Frame Arms Girl,” “Hayate the Combat Butler,” and “Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU,” will return to helm the series at studio feel. Shinichi Inotsume, who has worked on “Gangsta.,” “Hayate the Combat Butler,” and “PERSONA 5 the Animation,” will supervise the series scripts. Sumie Kinoshita, who designed the characters for “Dropout Idol Fruit Tart,” “Forest of Piano,” and “Girlish Number,” will also return to work on the character designs for the second season.

Synopsis of “Spy Classroom”

The “Spy Classroom” anime is based on the light novel series of the same name by Takemachi. The series is set in a world where countries fight their wars in secret, using spies to carry out their missions. The story follows Klaus, an unusual spy who has never failed a mission despite his eccentricities. He assembles a team of inexperienced “washouts” to take on an impossible mission with a high chance of failure. Together, they must use all their skills and unconventional tactics to succeed.

Light Novel and Manga Adaptation

Yen Press is publishing both the “Spy Classroom” light novel series and its manga adaptation in English. The light novel series features illustrations by tomari and was launched in January 2020. The manga adaptation, illustrated by Kaname Seu, began serialization in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine in May 2020.
