The next chapter of the One Piece manga, instalment 1048, may still be on the way, but social media pages around the world have been inundated with posts about the iconic series. On May 3rd, the popular and reputable Twitter page ‘OPspoiler’ shared a detailed look at the leaked spoilers for One Piece chapter 1048, which included hints that a major character is about to get a rather bad ending.
One Piece Chapter 1048 Raw Scan: The chapter is titled “20 Years,” and the cover caption reads, “The ones in Chocolate Town are probably the Germa!” In the first few pages, Momonosuke continues to move Onigashima in order to avoid Luffy’s impending attack, but he is struggling to maintain the force required to move the massive island, resorting to the infamous Fire Clouds for assistance.
Kaidou then transforms into a fire dragon, his body engulfed in flames to the point where the Onigashima horn melts the moment it comes into contact with the dragon’s tail. Kaidou and Luffy then launch new attacks on each other, dubbed Shoryu: Kaen Hakke and Monkey God Gun, respectively.
Kaidou’s dragon then opens his mouth wide, prompting Luffy to put one arm in front of his face to shield himself from the blast, while the other has the giant closed fist almost entirely inside the dragon’s mouth.

Inside the castle, Usopp is attempting to resurrect the defeated samurai, who are pleading with him to take out Kaidou while there is still time. After Kawamatsu recalls Oden’s execution 20 years ago, we are treated to a flashback scene. In the flashback, Kaidou discovers that Oden had a son and that Kaidou murdered the townspeople who attempted to defend Momonosuke. Orochi claims that they have permission to kill anyone who “dares to defy the Shogun,” and that they have already killed Oden’s wife.
They reveal that she was the sole survivor of the siege, which led to Oden’s castle being burned down by Kaidou and Orochi. Still in the flashback, we see the Wanokuni Daimyo band together to fight both Kaidou and Orochi; this is Tonoyasu and the three samurai Yamato met a few chapters ago in the cave. Unfortunately, they are all defeated, and the country begins to crumble as the populace is enslaved.
Returning to the present, Orochi is still on fire and attempting to kidnap Komurasaki before losing the last of his power. Denjiro appears out of nowhere and chops off Orochi’s head.
The wishes of those enslaved or killed by him can be seen high above the sky, including “May Orochi disappear” and “I want to escape this hell.” The chapter concludes with Kaidou and Luffy planning new and powerful attacks on one another.
As previously stated, the One Piece manga audience will have to wait a little longer, as chapter 1048 has been delayed globally for Golden Week in Japan. While the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is taking a break for the holidays, the global community will continue to dissect and discuss every nugget of information pertaining to Chapter 1048.
The new chapter will be released on Sunday, May 8th, according to the series’ official simulpub page on Viz Media. The One Piece page on Manga Plus confirms that chapter 1048 will be released at 4 PM BST (8 AM PDT/11 AM EDT).
