Overwatch 2 is officially out for the players to enjoy, and despite the obvious what is in the new version, a lot of players are getting added to the vast majority of players who are already enjoying it. However, with this big shift to a new game, existing players are concerned about what is going to happen to their skins and the crates that were already in the players’ account. Don’t worry, Overwatch 2 has that covered, as well. Legacy Credits Overwatch 2: What are they and how to get them in the new game?

Players could earn credits in the original Overwatch by getting identical skins or cosmetics from an earlier loot box system. These credits may then be used to purchase other in-game cosmetics including skins voice lines, etc. However, these credits are no longer available in Overwatch 2 due to the transition to free-to-play and the removal of the loot box system.

What are Legacy Credits in Overwatch 2?

The credits you had in Overwatch 1 are going to get moved to Overwatch 2 in the form of “Legacy Credits.” Legacy Credits is going to be the new currency of the new Overwatch 2. It takes from your original pool from the old game and will allow you to buy more skins in the new Overwatch 2.

How to use Legacy Credits in Overwatch 2

The top right corner of your screen will display any Legacy Credits. Then you may navigate to the “Heroes” tab in the game. Then buy any desired skins or other cosmetics for each character. Please take note that Legacy Credits do not work to purchase all in-game skins and cosmetics. Only certain types of cash can be used to purchase some skins, such as seasonal skins.

With these Legacy Credits, you may also buy skins for more recent heroes like Kiriko or Junker Queen. Spend these credits to receive free cosmetics for these newer heroes if you have enough credits stored up. Spend responsibly because there is no way to acquire Legacy Credits. Once you use all of your Legacy Credits, they are permanently lost.
