Kingdom 785: “Big Woman” was the chapter’s title. Shiryou constantly calls Sou’Ou ugly in response to his compliments in the opening scene of the flashback.
Sou’Ou isn’t the only one in the army raving about Shiryou’s abilities. Her impartiality worries her other soldiers because she is a hired gun now serving with the Ousen army.
Attempting to offer Shiryou a flower, Sou’Ou praises her attractiveness as they race across the battlefield in pursuit. While Sou’Ou is an excellent officer, the other mercenaries have warned Shiryou about his reputation as a playboy.
His true motivation for harassing Shiryou is probably to have an affair with her. They should be able to make money as long as she stays out of trouble for now. When Sou’Ou compliments Shiryou’s appearance again, she explodes in anger and exposes her severed eye, demanding to know what he finds so attractive.
According to Sou’Ou, his love for her knows no bounds. Following their encounter, Sou’Ou assures Shiryou that she is absolutely stunning and begs her to remain by his side indefinitely, leading Shiryou to believe that he has had enough of her.
Shiryou orders Sou’Ou to go to Ousen even as she fights Kan Saro and Ji Aga. Sou’Ou is to spearhead the troops’ advance to Ousen, while Denrimi yells at Shin Kakugaku and Sanshuu to stay behind. The command to “divide and conquer” comes from Sou’Ou’s commander.
His command consists of five thousand men, with a further three thousand on their way to Ousen’s whereabouts. Denrimi also instructs half of his men to stay and half to resupply Ousen. Against Kan Saro’s orders, Shiryou directs her troop to block Sou’Ou and Denrimi. “Shiryou!” Sou’Ou then yells out. Very much the same! Once we’ve won this battle, I will embrace you passionately.
