Gamera Rebirth: Anime releases visual for 3rd Kaiju Zigra

On Sunday, Kadokawa unveiled the visual for Zigra, Gamera’s third opponent in the Gamera -Rebirth- anime series. This year, Netflix will globally release the Gamera -Rebirth- anime series consisting of six episodes, which will showcase the iconic Gamera battling against five colossal kaiju. Kadokawa recently unveiled the visual for Zigra, one of the formidable opponents of Gamera in the series.

The anime’s cast members include:

  • Hisako Kanemoto as Boko
  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Joe
  • Aki Toyosaki as Junichi
  • Subaru Kimura as Brody
  • Mamoru Miyano as Tazaki
  • Saori Hayami as Emiko

Additional crew for the anime

The upcoming Gamera -Rebirth- anime is being directed by Hiroyuki Seshita, who has previously worked on CG character direction for Suzume, Polygon Pictures’ Godzilla anime trilogy, and Lupin III vs. Cat’s Eye. ENGI is the studio responsible for animating the series, with Keisuke Ide serving as assistant director. The series composition is being handled by Seshita, Kenta Ihara, and Hiroshi Seko, who are also collaborating on the scripts alongside Tetsuya Yamada. Atsushi Tamura is in charge of the character designs, while manga creator Kan Takahama is designing the monsters.

The music for the series is being composed by Shūji Katayama, with Yoshikazu Iwanami serving as the sound director and Yuichi Ishima as the line director. The ending theme song for the anime is being performed by rock band WANIMA. The anime will premiere on Netflix worldwide later this year. The series will have six episodes, with the plot revolving around Gamera fighting against five kaiju.

Where to watch the anime?

Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up website will host a manga adaptation of the Gamera -Rebirth- anime. In addition, director Hiroyuki Seshita will also write a novel adaptation of the series.

In 1965, Daiei Film introduced Gamera, a colossal, flame-spewing turtle kaiju in their movie “Daikaijū Gamera” (Gamera the Giant Monster) as a response to TOHO’s successful monster film franchise Godzilla. The last entry in the series, “Chiisaki Yūsha-tachi” (Gamera the Brave), was released in 2006 and marked the twelfth film in the franchise.

Masaki Aizawa joins Undead Girl Murder Farce anime cast

On Friday, the official website for the anime adaptation of Yugo Aosaki’s Undead Girl Murder Farce light novel series announced that Masaki Aizawa has been cast as John H. Watson, the partner of the renowned detective Sherlock Holmes.

Come July, the anime will premiere on Fuji TV’s +Ultra programming block. Crunchyroll has acquired the streaming rights to the show, and will be streaming it worldwide, except for in Asia, as it airs in Japan.

Leading the cast of the series are Tomoyo Kurosawa as Aya Rindo, Taku Yashiro as Tsugaru Shinuchi, Makoto Koichi as Shizuku Hasei, Sayumi Suzushiro as Annie Kerber, and Shinichiro Miki as the legendary detective himself, Sherlock Holmes.
