The website for the anime series Dropkick on My Devil! (Jashin-chan Dropkick) has announced that a new spinoff episode titled Jashin-chan Dropkick: Seikimatsu-hen (Dropkick on My Devil! Apocalypse Arc) is set to air on BS NTV channel in winter 2023. It has been clarified that this TV spinoff is separate from the previously crowdfunded fourth season of the anime, and will be animated by Makaria.

Collaborating with the town of Takamori in Kumamoto Prefecture, the anime is filled with references to Fist of the North Star, from its title to its visual and teaser trailer. In the anime, Yurine takes on the role of a tyrant ruling over a Jinbocho left in ruins following a meteor strike. In her quest to defeat Yurine, Jashin-chan travels south and has an unusual encounter in Takamori, all while guided by the stars.

The history of the anime

In July 2018, the first season of the anime was launched and is currently available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video worldwide. The final bonus episode premiered on the platform in October 2018. The second season, titled Dropkick on My Devil!! Dash, debuted in April 2020 with 11 episodes, all of which were streamed by Crunchyroll.

The third installment of the anime, titled Dropkick on My Devil! X, made its debut in July 2022 and was made available for streaming on Crunchyroll while it aired.

In September 2020, a successful crowdfunding campaign was launched for the third season of the anime, which concluded in December of the same year. The campaign was backed by 2,880 supporters who raised 36,181,238 yen (around US$351,100). One of the backers pledged 1.1 million yen (approximately US$10,000) to name the season “Dropkick on My Devil! X,” expressing their desire for Yurine and Jashin-chan to keep fighting and crossing paths indefinitely.

Running for a Guinness World Record

In April 2012, Yukiwo began publishing the original manga series in Comic Meteor, a web magazine by Flex Comix. The manga is still ongoing.

The crowdfunding campaign for the anime’s fourth season was launched on November 30, 2022, and its initial goal of 30 million yen (approximately US$235,000) was reached within the first 35 minutes. The campaign ultimately raised an impressive total of 115,964,266 yen (about US$865,200). The production team even applied for the Guinness World Record for the highest amount of funds raised for an anime production project.
