CAPCOM has released a demo for the highly anticipated Street Fighter 6 fighting game, which will allow players to test out the characters Ryu and Luke, create a custom avatar character, and try out the game’s World Tour single player story. The demo is currently available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC on April 26.

Launching and Returning Characters

The game is set to launch on June 2 for all announced platforms, and CAPCOM has also revealed the first round of DLC characters, including Rashid in summer 2023, A.K.I. in fall 2023, Ed in winter 2024, and Akuma in spring 2024. Players can purchase these characters individually or in a season pass.

Returning characters to the franchise include Ryu, Chun-li, and Luke, while new to the game is Jamie, a breakdancing kickboxer. The game’s launch roster also includes characters Manon, Kimberly, Marisa, Lily, JP, Juri, Dee Jay, Cammy, E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Zangief, and Dhalsim.

Drive System and Real-Time Commentary Feature

Street Fighter 6 introduces a new Drive system that features a resource gauge, which allows players to execute five different techniques. These techniques include a super armor move, a parry, EX (enhanced) special moves, a forward-moving rush attack, and a low damage reversal.

Another new feature is the real-time commentary feature, which offers commentary from popular fighting game community commentators. The feature will include subtitles available in 13 languages, and commentators such as Thea Trinidad (also known as Zelina Vega), Vicious, Aru, Japanese commentator and caster Kōsuke Hiraiwa, and Sekima II band frontman Demon Kakka.

The Battle Hub will offer players new and unique ways to engage, communicate, and interact with the game. The game will also include an optional versus mode called “Extreme Battle” that includes interactable items, stage elements, and different objectives.

Classic and Modern Control Schemes

Street Fighter 6 will offer players a classic control scheme, as well as a “modern” control scheme that makes specials easier to input.

The demo is currently available on PlayStation, and the game will launch on June 2 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
