Asta and Liebe joined True Devil Union in the previous chapter, allowing them to merge into a single entity. Asta wished to exact vengeance on Licita, whom he still believed to be Liebe’s mother. After releasing Nacht and Yami from Lucifero’s grasp, Asta used his final five seconds of Devil Union Mode to kick Lucifero away.
Spoilers indicate that Black Clover chapter 328 is titled “All the Way/Always,” a reference to Licita’s speech in the chapter.
Asta is still fighting Lucifero, according to the raw scans. Meanwhile, Liebe’s recollections of Licita discussing Asta are shown. Readers had no idea how Liebe discovered Asta was Licita’s son, and Tabata did not directly confirm this fact until Black Clover chapter 328.

In the flashback, Licita is seen discussing her child with Liebe. She tells him she had a child Liebe’s age that she had to send away from her in order for the child to survive. Asta’s life would have been in danger if she had continued to keep him with her due to Licita’s nature of stealing away every creature’s mana and life force near her.
Although the raw scans are unclear as to whether Asta can see these memories, he fights Lucifero in Licita’s honor. Asta defeats Lucifero, and the Demon King realizes the boy is Licita’s son.
Liebe recalls Licita saying that even if she can’t be with her child, she will always love him (the word she uses is “zutto,” which means “all the time” as Asta cuts across Lucifero’s body diagonally.
Asta slashes through Lucifero’s body, apparently severing his heart. As Lucifero falls, Asta and Liebe split from Devil Union and appear in front of him, telling him in unison that they will live on and be happy, fulfilling Licita’s wish.
