Heinrich Klaasen is a professional cricketer, who plays for South African team Internationally. Heinrich has played in all the three formats of the game for the South Africa team. He was born on 30 July 1991 in Pretoria, Transvaal Province, South Africa. He is a wicket keeper and a right handed batsman. In domestic cricket, he represents Northerns cricket team. For the first time in a T20 International match on 21 February 2021, Heinrich led the South African team. He is known for his aggressive batting style, as he is capable of scoring runs in quick succession. He has been a part of several T20 leagues around the world like Indian Premier League, Mzansi Super League and others.

For the Global T20 league in 2017, Heinrich was selected by Nelson Mandela Bay Stars, but unfortunately the tournament was postponed by the South Africa cricket board to 2018, which later got canceled. Heinrich was signed by Rajasthan Royals for the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, in place of Steve Smith. For the 2018-19 cricketing season in South Africa, Heinrich was selected by the Titans in June 2018. He played for Durban Heat’ team in the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL). For the 2019 IPL season, he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in December 2018. For the second season of MSL, he was signed by Tshwane Spartans in September 2019.

Heinrich was released by RCB prior to the IPL 2020 season. Before the beginning of the cricket season of 2021-22, Heinrich was selected by Northerns in April 2021. Sunrisers Hyderabad signed Heinrich for the 2023 IPL season. In the SA T20 league, Heinrich scored his 2nd hundred for Durban’s Super Giants against Pretoria Capitals on 5 February 2023. In 2017, he was selected in South Africa’s Test team for their series against New Zealand, but didn’t get the chance to play. He was selected in place of injured Quinton De Kock for South Africa’s One Day International (ODI) series against India in 2018. He played his debut ODI match on 7 February against India. In the fourth match of the series, which was Heinrich’s 2nd ODI, he was named as man of the match for his match winning performance.

Heinrich was later selected for SA’s T20 International (T20I) series against India. It was on 18 February, when he played his debut T20I match for SA against India. He was honored with the man of the match title in the 2nd T20I, as he scored his first half century in T20I and helped his team win the match. On 19 October, 2019, he played his debut Test match against India. Heinrich’s first ODI hundred came in a match against Australia on 29 February 2020, where he scored 123 runs. Heinrich was appointed as the captain for the South African team for their T20I series against Pakistan. He was part of the South African team that played in the 2021 ICC T20 world cup.
