David Wiese is a professional cricketer, who represents Namibia cricket team Internationally. David originally belongs to Transvaal Province in South Africa. Initially, David used to play for South Africa between 2013 and 2016. Later in the year 2021, he started playing for Namibia. His father belonged to Namibia, which made him eligible to play there. In South Africa David played 67 times in first class cricket. He is part of Lahore Qalandars in Pakistan Super League. Currently in the Indian Premier League, he’s playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. David was born on 18 May, 1985 and he is one of the tallest cricketers with 6 feet and 5 inches height. He is an all rounder, who bats down the order and bowls medium fast.

David belongs to a town which is usually known for farming. He from the age of 9 started playing cricket. David wasn’t encouraged by his parents to pursue his career in the game of cricket, however his interest in cricket was enough to take him this far. He was sent to the university of Pretoria to further continue his studies. David used to play for the university’s cricket team there. Initially, he started as a spin bowler, but with time as he grew up, he started bowling medium fast due to his height and strength. In the 2012 Champions League T20, he was part of the Titans. During the semi finals he struck 61 runs off just 28 balls, which was widely appreciated.

After David’s performance against Sri Lanka in 2013, he was soon dropped from the T20 team of South Africa. It was on 19 August 2015, when David played his One Day International (ODI) for South Africa against New Zealand. He was also part of South Africa’s team that was knocked out from the super 10 in the ICC T20 world cup. In the year 2017 on 9 January, David signed a contract with Sussex, which canceled his eligibility to play for South Africa anymore. It was announced by the Namibian coach that David will be representing Namibia in the 2021 ICC T20 world cup. His name in Namibia’s team was confirmed for ICC T20 world cup in September, 2021.

On October 20, 2021, Namibia won their first ever match in the ICC tournament. David was in the playing eleven of the team that defeated Netherlands in Abu Dhabi. David was awarded the man of the match title due to his outstanding performance. He made 66 runs off 40 balls and took 1 wicket. It was Namibia’s best world cup ever and David also ended up with amazing batting and bowling figures. He scored a total of 227 runs and took 6 wickets in 8 matches. Along with Shakib Al Hasan and Asif Ali, David was named as the ICC player of the month in October 2021. It was on 6 March, 2022 when David played his ODI debut match for Namibia against Oman in a tri series with UAE as well.
