Marco Jansen is a professional cricketer, who represents South Africa cricket team Internationally. In domestic cricket, Marco plays for Warriors. Initially when Marco started playing cricket, he was a batsman and used to open the innings. He also made 164 runs when he was just nine in a twenty over match. Marco’s talent was noticed by his father and he began training him. Marco’s younger brother Duan is also a professional cricketer and used to practice alongside his brother in the nets with his father. Marco was born on 1 May, 2000 in the Klerksdorp region of South Africa. He is now a bowling all rounder, who bowls with his left arm and bats with right.
Marco was selected in the South Africa national under 19 cricket team for their tour to India in January, 2019. In the 2018-19 CSA 3 day Provincial Cup, Marco was the leading wicket taking bowler for the North West, as he took 27 wickets in just 6 matches. On 8 April, 2018 in CSA Provincial One Day Challenge, Marco played his debut match in List A cricket for the North West. Marco’s T20 debut happened in the 2018-19 CSA T20 Challenge while playing for Knights on 28 April, 2019. In the 2019 Mzansi Super League Championship, Marco was selected by the Durban Heats in September, 2019.

Prior to the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Marco was acquired by the Mumbai Indians franchise for the 2021 season of IPL. MI bought him for INR 20 lakhs at his base price.It was on 9 April, 2021, when Marco played his IPL debut match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In his debut match he ended up taking 2 wickets for 28 runs. For the 2021-22 cricketing season in South Africa, he was selected by the Eastern Province team. For the 2022 Indian Premier League season, Marco was selected by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping amount of INR 4.2 crores. Marco became the part of South Africa’s Test team for a series against Pakistan.
In India’s tour of South Africa, Marco was selected for the Test series in December, 2021. Before being selected in a series against India, Marco was selected in South Africa’s Test team for their series against West Indies. However, he didn’t get the chance to play in the playing eleven. It was on 26 December, 2021 when he played his debut Test match and took his first ever Test wicket of Jasprit Bumrah. In South Africa’s One Day International (ODI) series against India, Marco was selected. He played his debut match on 19 January, 2022. In South Africa’s tour of India in June, 2022, Marco was selected for T20 Internationals (T20I). It was on 17 June, when he played his T20I debut match against India.
