Asif Ali is a professional cricketer from Pakistan, he plays the role of a right-handed attacking batter and represents the National team in the limited overs format. Ali is known for his power hitting, he is known to play the aggressor’s role and bats in the middle or lower middle of the team. He can clear any boundary rope easily, has a knack for rotating strikes, and keeps ticking the scorecard as well. He is very good against the spinner and can play the fast bowlers well too. Ali started playing cricket at a young age, in his early days, it was tape ball cricket that he was most famous for but soon started representing the Multan side in Pakistan domestic circuit, Asif Ali’s domestic numbers don’t do justice to his talent at all. Ali first caught the attention of the selectors in the 2011 Faysal Bank Twenty20 tournament. In his debut match against Multan Tigers, Ali cracked a 59-ball hundred. The right-handed batsman rose to prominence in the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League. Playing for Islamabad United, his exploits with the bat propelled Islamabad to their second PSL title. In the finals against Peshawar Zalmi, Ali showed his brute strength by hammering three sixes of Hasan Ali in a nerve-wracking chase and announced his arrival as the next big thing in Pakistan cricket. His brilliant performances earned him a call-up to the national side for the three-match T20I series against West Indies in 2018.

In the same year, he got a chance to represent Pakistan in the ODI format, making his debut in the first match and scoring a quickfire 46 to help Pakistan cross the 300-run mark. Ali was drafted in the Pakistan squad for the 2019 World Cup held in England and Wales. The hard-hitter played only two matches and could only score 19 runs as Pakistan crashed out of the group stage, he was removed from the team and has found it hard to make a return. However, he was bagged by Hobart Hurricanes to play in the Big Bash League, he has also represented the Barbados Tridents and Jamaica Tallawahs. Ali is just the kind of finisher Pakistan have been craving over the past few years but his inconsistency has put him out of the team. He is been a consistent performer for Islamabad United in the PSL and would want to make a comeback into the Pakistan lineup.
