Anrich Nortje is a professional cricketer, who plays for South Africa cricket team Internationally. Anrich is a right arm fast bowler and has played for the South African team in all the three formats of the game. He was born on 16 November, 1993 in Uitenhage, Cape Province of South Africa. Anrich made his International debut for the team in the year 2019. He was awarded with the title of newcomer of the year at the annual awards ceremony of South Africa Cricket Board. In the 2016 Africa T20 Cup, Anrich was part of the Eastern Province team. For the inaugural edition of Mzansi Super League, a tournament organized by South Africa Cricket Board, he was signed by Cape Town Blitz in October 2018. 

Anrich’s ankle injury ruined the tournament for him, as he had to leave because of that in the middle of the league. For the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL), he was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 IPL auctions. During the tournament in 2019, he suffered a shoulder injury, which forced him to leave the tournament. Before the 2020 season of IPL, Anrich was dropped by KKR. In the Caribbean Premier League, he was acquired by St. Lucia Zouks in July 2020. Nevertheless, he didn’t attend the tournament, because he failed to confirm his travel arrangements on time. In the IPL, Anrich was picked by Delhi Capitals in place of Chris Woakes for the 2020 season.

Anrich holds the record of bowling the fastest ball in the IPL, at the speed of 156.2 km/hr to Jos Butler on 14 October, 2020. Prior to the cricketing season in South Africa, he was signed by Easterns Province in April 2021 for 2021-22 season. He has also been a part of a league in the USA, as he was in Washington Freedom. Anrich was selected in the South Africa’s team for their One Day International series against Sri Lanka in February 2019. It was on 3 March, 2019 when he played his ODI debut match for SA against SL. The ODI series was continued by the T20I series, and Anrich was part of that too. Unfortunately, he was dropped from the series due to the injury.

In the month of April 2019, Anrich was included in the team of South Africa for 2019 ICC cricket World Cup. Unfortunately he was replaced by Chris Morris due to the injury on 7 May, 2019.He was selected for the South Africa’s Test and T20I series against India. Anrich played his T20I debut match against India on 18 September, 2019. On October 10, he played his debut Test match against India. In a Test against England, Anrich took his first 5 wickets in a single game. He was given his central contract from the South Africa Board prior to the 2020-21 season. He was selected in South Africa’s team for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2021. Anrich has an outstanding Test record, as he has taken 70 wickets in only 19 matches he played for SA.
