West Indies Women U19 will take on Rwanda Women U19 in the Super Six, Group 2 of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 at North-West University No1 Ground in Potchefstroom on January 22.

West Indies Women U19 will take on Rwanda Women U19 in the Super Six, Group 2 of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 at North-West University No1 Ground in Potchefstroom on January 22. South Africa is the host of the inaugural edition of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in January 2023. 16 teams will compete in the tournament and 41 matches will take place as well. Moreover, 16 warm-up matches took place between 9 and 11 January in Johannesburg and Tshwane. The World Cup matches will be played across four venues in Benoni (Willowmoore Park and Willowmoore Park B Field) and Potchefstroom (Senwes Park and North-West University No1 Ground). Both semi-finals will be played on 27 January at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom whereas the final will take place at the same venue on 29 January as well.

11 full-member nations gained direct entry to the inaugural edition of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup – Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe. The rest of the five places were filled by the champions from each of the ICC’s five regions as well – UAE, Rwanda, USA, Indonesia and Scotland. All 16 teams have been divided in 4 groups also. Group A (Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and USA), Group B (England, Pakistan, Rwanda and Zimbabwe), Group C (Indonesia, Ireland, New Zealand and West Indies) and Group D (India, Scotland, South Africa and the UAE) as well.

The Pitch:

The pitch here will be a balanced one and pacers will get help initially from the pitch and batting will get easier as the game progresses as well. However, both teams will prefer chasing at this venue as well.

Key players:

There are quite a few key players available in the game. Zaida James, the left-handed batter and right-arm off-break bowler from West Indies Women Under-19 can play a key role for her side as she has scored 112 runs and picked up 4 wickets so far. Along with her, there is NaiJanni Cumberbatch – a right-handed batter from West Indies Women Under-19 who has smashed 40 runs in this tournament so far as well.

On the other hand, Trishan Holder is a right-handed batter from West Indies Women Under-19. She has scored 40 runs in this tournament so far. Cynthia Tuyizere too will play a key role for her side as she has smashed 60 runs in this tournament so far as well.
