The 32nd game of the current Big Bash League will feature a contest between the Hobart Hurricanes and the Melbourne Renegades. Both teams are positioned in the bottom half of the standings and are in desperate need of crucial points to maintain their chances of making the playoffs. After destroying the last opponent, the last-placed Melbourne Stars, the Renegades enter the game. In recent games, the Hurricanes’ hitting unit has begun to gel, and Ben McDermott is the key. The Hurricanes will start as the favourites despite being positioned below the Renegades on the points chart due to their superior star power.

The Docklands Stadium’s pitch has historically been favourable for batting, as evidenced by the venue’s average score of 165. While the circumstances have been favourable for hitters, the pace has been a key factor, taking 86 per cent of the wickets this season. Five wickets have fallen during the powerplay phase over four innings, showing some assistance with the new ball is available. Considering the history of Docklands Stadium, chasing may be the best course of action.
