India emerged victorious by an innings and 64 runs, showcasing their dominance over England in every aspect of the game during the thrilling three-day encounter. This triumph cements India’s well-deserved series win, prevailing with an impressive margin of 4-1. While England exhibited glimpses of competence throughout the series, this particular Test witnessed a complete outclassing by the Indian team.

Let’s delve into the intricate details of how this Test unfolded over the past three days. England, having won the toss, opted to bat first and initially displayed promise. However, their innings faltered as Zak Crawley stood out with a commendable 79, accompanied by Duckett’s contribution of 27. Root and Bairstow, though starting well, couldn’t capitalize, with Ben Foakes adding 24 runs. England found themselves bundled out for 218 in the first innings, with Kuldeep Yadav leading the charge, securing 5 wickets for 72 runs in 15 overs.

Ravichandran Ashwin contributed significantly with 4 wickets for 51 runs in 11.4 overs, and Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with a wicket. In response, India orchestrated a formidable reply, anchored by centuries from skipper Rohit Sharma (103) and Shubman Gill (110). The batting display was robust, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (57), debutant Devdutt Padikkal (65), and Sarfaraz Khan (56) contributing significantly. Facing a daunting deficit of 259 runs, England encountered consistent setbacks, losing wickets at regular intervals. Despite commendable efforts from Joe Root, who scored 84 off 128 balls, England’s batting order struggled. Ultimately, England was bowled out for 195 in 48.1 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin continued his stellar performance, completing his 36th five-wicket haul and accumulating a total of 9 wickets in the match, finishing with figures of 5/77 in 14 overs. Stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav also contributed with a couple of wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja secured one.
