The Dambulla Aura and the Jaffna Kings will take on each other in the fourth match of the Lanka Premier League 2023 on Tuesday, August 1 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Led by Kusal Mendis, the Aura did not have a good start in their campaign. They lost in their opening game to the Galle Titans, led by national captain Dasun Shanaka as well. The match went to the Super Over where the Dambulla Aura posted a target of 10 runs. Binura Fernando failed to keep his calm as Bhanuka Rajapaksa hit a four and a six to win it for his side as well.
On the other hand, the Jaffna Kings, led by Thisara Perera, started their journey in a great manner. They beat Niroshan Dickwella’s Colombo Strikers by 21 runs in the first match of the tournament. Batting first, the Kings posted 174 runs, on the back of a fifty from Towhid Hridoy. The Kings then successfully defended the target, while restricting the Kings to 152 in 19.4 overs. Captain Dickwella scored 58 runs off 34 balls, including nine fours and one six, but his efforts went in vain as he failed to take hi side to the finish line.
