Jasprit Bumrah took another Test five-wicket haul in the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town. The haul came in the backdrop of last week’s on-field altercation with Marco Jansen and the reaction that followed. However, he has said that the incident has ‘ended’ in Johannesburg and they have “moved on in life”.

Notably, both Bumrah and Jansen used to play for Mumbai Indians earlier. They were involved in a heated exchange during the second Test. This happened after Jansen hit Bumrah on the body with a few bouncers. And, Bumrah took his revenge on Wednesday by clean-bowling Jansen for 7. He then gave him a cold stare but didn’t exchange any words as well.

At the post-match press conference, Bumrah opined on this incident. He replied: “I don’t remember having any conversation with him even once (in this match). Whatever happened in the last game, it ended there. We have moved forward in life. In this game, I don’t remember having a discussion or even eye contact with him. But yeah we are focussing on what our team has to do, the opposition can do whatever they want to do. We are trying to follow our processes and our contributions to get the team to a good position.”

“I was just focussing on what I had to do, my routines and my processes” – Jasprit Bumrah

However, Jasprit Bumrah not only removed Jansen but also took four more wickets and registered his seventh five-wicket haul in Test cricket. His spell of 5-42 helped India dismiss the hosts for 210. While he had to face criticism earlier for his poor show, the pace bowler said that he didn’t pay “any extra” attention to it. And, he kept his focus intact on the game only.

“Nothing out of the ordinary. I was just focussing on what I had to do, my routines and my processes… or whatever has to be done when I prepare for a Test match. Nothing out of the ordinary, I was not giving any extra attention on I was not really too angry. I was just focussing on what I had to do and trying to be in the present,” Jasprit Bumrah concluded.
