Veteran Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar said that the team required a big knock from Harry Brook after the England batter scored his maiden IPL century on Friday against KKR on April 14 in Kolkata. Brook, who was bought for a huge price by the Hyderabad-based franchise, had struggled to leave a mark so far in his maiden IPL campaign. But, on Friday the England batter scored the first century of the IPL 2023 season as well. Brook reached the landmark in 55 balls and it helped SRH get the win as well.
While speaking after the match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar opined on getting wickets upfront and how he isn’t a big fan of too many slower balls and variations as well in the IPL 2023.

“We just wanted to get wickets up front, but the way they scored in the 6th over, they were equal to us (powerplay score). I am not a big fan of too many slower balls or variations. You just got to bowl in the right areas. Try to bowl according to the batter and the dimensions,” said Kumar.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar also said that the team wanted to back the young pace bowler Umran Malik during the final over after he was get hit by Nitish Rana for 28 runs in his first over of the match as well. The veteran also admitted that it was a batting track at the Eden Gardens on the day but wickets also helped the bowlers when bowled in the right areas.
“Just wanted to back him (Umran for the final over) and he started the over with two good balls. Bad for bowlers for sure. No, really good wicket for the batters. They can come hard and if you put the ball in the right areas you can get wickets as well,” said Kumar.

However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar opined on the innings played by Harry Brook and said that the team needed that type of an innings from him as well and it is a big plus having him amongst the runs. Kumar further added that brook can take on any opposition and that’s the reason why he was promoted up the order by the franchise.
“Top class innings (from Harry Brook), we needed that type of an innings from him. Having him among the runs is a big plus for us. He can take any team apart, that is why the management sent him to open the batting,” concluded Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
