The eight franchises who have been at the start of the IPL will now be joined by two more teams in the 2022 edition. The two-day IPL 2022 Mega Auction will see 590 players going under the hammer in Bangalore. There will be social distancing and other norms in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The IPL 2022 Mega Auction is a big event as new players might go into new teams. A new chapter is beginning for many of the sides. Although most of the franchises have retained their core star players like Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli, the rest of the players will either be going to their old teams or they will be bid by new ones. A total of 370 Indians and a total of 220 overseas players will be going under the hammer.
Out of the 590 players, there will be 228 capped and 355 uncapped players in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. There will also be seven members from associate nations like Scotland, Namibia, and the USA who will also go under the hammer.
Australia has 47 players registered in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. They are followed by West Indies, South Africa, England, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand. Here is the breakup of the overseas representation.

Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have the maximum purse heading into the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Punjab Kings have 72 crores with them while Sunrisers Hyderabad has Rs 68 crores as their purse. Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians have an identical purse of Rs 48 crores. Delhi Capitals have the least with Rs 47.5 crores. Here is the breakup.
