Deepak Hooda Base Price Increased, Silent Tie-breaker Rule in Effect in IPL 2022

The other update was that Deepak Hooda’s base price was now increased to Rs 75 lakhs. This is because prior to the release of the auction list, Hooda was an uncapped player. But, he played one game against the West Indies, and thus, he became a capped India player. The IPL 2022 Mega Auction will begin at 12 PM but the build-up will start from 11 PM.

However, this IPL 2022 Mega Auction will see the ‘Silent Tie-breaker’ rule come into play. This rule actually has been in effect since 2010. The IPL has put caps on the maximum number of bids for a player. Now, this rule will only come into play if the entire purse of the franchise gets exhausted. If the team’s final bid for a player gets matched by another franchise but they do not have the money, then the ‘Silent Tiebreaker’ rule will come into play. The concerned teams will have to submit a written bid to the BCCI mentioning the prize.

The bid would include the prize they would pay for a player beyond the last bid they put forward. The amount mentioned would be deposited to the BCCI outside the purse balance. In the past, teams have bought Kieron Pollard and Ravindra Jadeja in this way.
