The BCCI has released some guidelines for the IPL and the new Indian cricket domestic season on Thursday. The guidelines were related to the availability of overseas players for the IPL. The BCCI also released a list for the bowlers who are in the watch-list for illegal action and those who have been banned from bowling.

Players from England, West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh and potentially Australia might miss the start of the IPL. England and West Indies are involved in a three-match Test series that will end on March 28. The IPL 2022 will begin on March 27. South Africa and Bangladesh are also involved in three T20I and two-Test series. That is probably the reason why Shakib Al Hasan has withdrawn from the Test match squad. Australia’s series against Pakistan will end in April, thus they might miss the first two weeks of the IPL.

But, the BCCI has also released a list of 13 players who have been banned from bowling and are under immense scrutiny for their bowling actions. One of the names is surprising.

Out of the 13 bowlers who are under the scanner of the BCCI, Under-19 World Cup-winning bowler Vicky Ostwal’s name is surprising. Ostwal, the 19-year-old left-arm spinner from Maharashtra, was one of the leading wicket-takers in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022, ending with 12 wickets at an average of 13.33. His best was 5/28 against South Africa.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, in the list of 13 players, Ostwal is one of the players whom the BCCI is keeping a close eye on for a suspect action. If his action is reported again, then he will be banned from bowling. There are other prominent players whose names are mentioned that have had their bowling action scrutinized. Jay Bista of Mumbai, Darshan Nalkande and Apoorv Wankhade from Vidarbha are in the watch-list. Sudip Chatterjee and Dharmendra Singh Jadeja are also on the list.

The likes of Manish Pandey, Ishank Jaggi and KL Shrijit have been banned from bowling by the BCCI in IPL 2022. The IPL 2022 Mega Auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore. The Under-19 players might get a big bid. But, this development might force the franchises to have a rethink on Vicky Ostwal and his inclusion. The tournament might be played entirely in Maharashtra, with Mumbai and Pune the two potential venues.
