Coach Rahul Dravid faces scrutiny following India's loss to Australia in ICC World Test Championship Final

Rahul Dravid had to face criticism for India's poor show. In the post-match interview, he addressed what the team lacked and are which needed to get better before the ICC 50 over World Cup later this year.

In November 2021, Rahul Dravid, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, became the head coach of the Indian cricket team, succeeding Ravi Shastri who stepped down after the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Dravid secured this position due to his successful coaching stints with the Indian U-19 and India A teams. Dravid’s mentorship led the Indian U-19 team to the runners-up position in the 2016 U-19 Cricket World Cup and the championship title in the 2018 U-19 Cricket World Cup. Dravid is also credited for grooming promising Indian players such as Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Washington Sundar.

Before coaching the Under 19 Indian team, Rahul Dravid served as a mentor for the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils franchises in the Indian T20 League. In July 2019, he was appointed as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he did wonders for improving player fitness and rehabilitation programs. Dravid has unearthed promising talent for Indian cricket in the coming years.

Since taking charge of the senior men’s national team, Dravid has coached India in plenty of ODIs, Tests and T20s games. India has had varied success in his tenure, The Indian team under him did well in the ICC events but failed to get home a trophy. India lost to Australia in the recently concluded ICC World Test Championship, despite a resilient show, Rahul Dravid had to face criticism for India’s poor show. In the post-match interview, he addressed what the team lacked and needed to improve before the ICC 50 over World Cup later this year. The former Indian captain was positive that India would come back stronger in the next assignment.
