The IPL 2021 clash between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad is a contest of contrasts. MS Dhoni’s team are at their resurgent best and at the top half of the points table. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, are at the bottom with just one win from five games. If they lose this game, then their prospects of reaching the playoffs are all but extinguished. A loss to Chennai Super Kings would mean Sunrisers would have to win seven out of the remaining eight games. A win will keep the contest for the fourth spot interesting.

Chennai Super Kings have a settled batting and bowling combination that is clicking. Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja were at their best, with Jadeja proving to be the one-man demolition army against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The batting is in good hands with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis firing. If the middle order of Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Sam Curran contribute consistently, then Chennai Super Kings will have a deadly edge to them.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad are in the contest now primarily because of the return of Kane Williamson. The New Zealand player has managed to revive Sunrisers Hyderabad. He helped them to a win against Punjab Kings and almost pulling if off against Delhi Capitals. But, it is the inconsistency of the middle and lower order that is hurting Sunrisers Hyderabad. The bowling is solid but with T Natarajan’s absence, the bowling has taken a slight hit.

Probable 11s

Chennai Super Kings might not want to change a winning combination. With the pitch at the Arun Jaitley stadium keeping slow and low, the sides would like to include some spin bowlers in order to keep the batsmen in check. With no news about Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s recovery, Sunrisers Hyderabad might be tempted to keep the same team. If they want to boost the middle order, then they could get Manish Pandey to replace Virat Singh who struggled against Delhi Capitals.
