The Asia Cup 2022 will get underway on August 27 with hosts Sri Lanka taking on Afghanistan in the inaugural fixture to be held in Dubai. The Asia Cup 2022 fixtures were announced on Tuesday with the event set to be played in T20 format which will allow the continental teams a dress rehearsal for the 2022 T20 World Cup in October. 

Defending champions India will begin their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on August 28. The last edition of the Asia Cup was played in 2018 where India defeated Bangladesh in a nail-biting finish of the ODI format-continental event to be crowned champions.

Asia Cup 2022: When and Where to Watch?

Asia Cup 2022 will telecast on the Star Sports network in India and Disney + Hotstar will stream the online coverage of the event. The same network will provide live coverage to Asia Cup 2022 in other subcontinent regions like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Asia Cup 2022: What is the format of the continental event?

Asia Cup 2022 will be played in T20I format. Six teams are divided into a group of three each. Each team will play the other two in their group once each and the top two teams from each group will enter a Super 4 round that starts on September 3. The teams in Super 4 round will play against each other once each to determine the top two sides which qualify for the final on September 11.
