On Monday, both teams played their first game of the season against each other, in which the Hurricanes won by seven wickets. The Strikers scored 177 runs, thanks to a half-century from Chris Lynn. Lynn scored 87 runs off 58 deliveries, with help from Matthew Short and Colin de Grandhomme. The Hurricanes completed the chase in 17.2 overs. Caleb Jewell and Ben McDermott got the club off to a good start, scoring 86 runs in just 8.1 overs. Tim David’s 27-run knock perfectly suited the position as an anchor.
So far, the Adelaide Strikers and the Hobart Hurricanes have had nearly identical seasons. The strikers are fifth in the rankings with six points after winning three of their last seven games. They presently have a four-game losing skid. Meanwhile, the Hobart Hurricanes sit in sixth place, just behind the Strikers. They have also won three games, but the Strikers have a game in hand.
