Indian boxer Mandeep Jangra has signed a three-year contract with American boxing star Roy Jones Jr., making him the first boxer from his country to be linked with the legendary fighter. With a 3-0 record since turning professional in 2020, Commonwealth Games silver medalist Jangra has a similar record to his opponent Ryan Rebar, who he will face on April 1 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jangra, an Arjuna award recipient who defeated USA’s Brandon Sandoval in his third professional fight in Florida last March, is really encouraged to have signed with Jones Jr. Speaking to the Press Trust of India (PTI), Jangra showed his enthusiasm at being associated with Jones Jr., who is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Roy Jones’s professional career

Jones Jr. ended his career with a record of 66-9 and an impressive amateur record of 121 wins against just 13 losses. Jones Jr., who won a silver medal at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, appeared to be winning his final bout before one of the most controversial decisions in boxing history robbed him of the gold medal. Years later, Jones Jr. took on Mike Tyson in an exhibition match in November 2020, billed as “Lockdown Knockdown.”
