The BWF rankings for the two-time Olympic medalist from India, PV Sindhu, is still falling. According to the most recent women’s singles rankings, which were published on Tuesday, the Indian badminton player fell three more spots to No. 15 in the world. Former world No. 2 PV Sindhu, an Olympian with two medals, has seen a significant decline in ranking since the start of the year. She was ranked seventh in the world when the 2023 season began, but by April she had fallen outside the top 10. In the women’s singles badminton rankings, PV Sindhu last fell outside the top 14 players in April 2013. The former world champion attained her career-high ranking of No. 2 in the world in April 2017.

After a string of disappointing results, this Indian badminton player dropped three spots in the most recent women’s singles badminton rankings. After returning from a protracted injury layoff following her gold medal victory at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, the 27-year-old PV Sindhu has struggled with her form this season. Sindhu rose to the top 20 of the BWF World Rankings in September 2012 at the age of 17. After Zhang Ning of China, she is the only female competitor to ever win five or more singles medals at the BWF World Championships. She has obtained a total of five medals there.

PV Sindhu’s comeback

This year, PV Sindhu made a comeback and competed in the Malaysian Open and Indian Open, but she was eliminated in the first round of each competition. Despite playing a key role in India’s bronze-medal performance at the 2023 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship in Doha in February, the Hyderabad shuttler has struggled to find his best form on the BWF World Tour. Except for her appearance in the Madrid Masters final and her top-four finish at the Malaysia Masters, In any of the other seven BWF World Tour competitions PV Sindhu has taken part in so far this year, she hasn’t gone past the second round. Five of these had first-round exits.
