The Thailand Open 2023, officially named the Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand Open 2023, has already begun at Bangkok’s Indoor Stadium Huamark on May 30, 2023, and will run until June 4, 2023. With a prize pool of $420,000, this Thailand Open 2023 marks the twelfth event in the 2023 BWF World Tour and is an integral part of the longstanding Thailand Open event, which commenced in 1984. The Badminton Association of Thailand, in collaboration with the BWF, is responsible for organizing this prestigious international tournament, held at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the men’s singles, Chou Tien-chen, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Shi Yuqi, and Li Shifeng are a few of the strong contenders. The winner of the Malaysia Masters 2023, HS Prannoy of India, has decided to skip the competition. Whereas, An Se-Young, He Bingjiao, and Carolina Marin are the players to watch out for in the women’s singles. The new World no.4 pair of Chirag Shetty/ Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are the top seeds in the event and will be the favorites for the title, considering that they won the Badminton Asia Championships and Swiss Open title, this year. The duo claimed the Thailand Open title in 2019 when they prevailed over Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen. The Tokyo Olympics 2020 bronze medalists Kim So-yeong / Kong Hee-yong of South Korea are the seeded 1 pair and will enter the competition as a strong duo.
