BWF Awards 2023: Who are the Nominees for the Player of the Year?

The selection of nominees for the BWF Player of the Year Awards 2023, by the BWF Council, was based on their exceptional performances in the season spanning from November 1, 2022, to October 31, 2023.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has announced the contenders for the Player of the Year 2023 honors which consists of eight distinct award categories, including three sections dedicated to para badminton athletes. These top badminton athletes will be rewarded with the esteemed BWF Player of the Year award on December 11, 2023, in Hangzhou, China. The event will be held during the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals’ annual Gala Dinner.

The selection of nominees for the BWF Player of the Year Awards 2023, by the BWF Council, was based on their exceptional performances in the season spanning from November 1, 2022, to October 31, 2023. Additionally, the evening will also see the announcement of the recipient of the Eddy Choong Most Promising Player Award.

On December 5, 2022, in Bangkok, Thailand, the organization celebrated its champions with the annual awards. Viktor Axelsen of Denmark earned the Male Player of the Year award, defeating competitors Lee Zii Jia from Malaysia and Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew. In the women’s category, Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi prevailed over An Seyoung from the Republic of Korea and Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu-Ying to clinch the Female Player of the Year title. Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong from China were honored with the Pair of the Year award for their achievements in badminton.
