On September 12, 1996, Joshua Cheptegei was born in Uganda’s Kapsewui, Kapchorwa District. He is a Christian and of African heritage with the nationality of Uganda. He has nine siblings and Stephenson Kwalya Munerya is his father. In elementary school, he attempted the long jump and triple jump. He eventually realised his potential for long distance running and developed a deep love for the sport. After studying languages and literature in Kampala, Cheptegei has been employed by the Uganda National Police for two years.
Sport and recreation have always been enjoyable to Cheptegei. Even in high school, he played football. He eventually switched from football to long jump and triple jump despite his affinity for football. He ultimately realised that running was more his style. Cheptegei was a standout athlete as well. He loved reading and was a diligent student. He earned a Bachelor of Education (B.ed) from Bugema University as a result.
Benjamin Nija, Joshua Cheptegei’s buddy and mentor, gave him the push he needed to start his career in 2014. He is now considered one of the top runners in the world. Joshua Cheptegei won a silver medal at the London 2017 World Championships. In Valencia, he broke the 10,000-meter world record with a time of 26:11.0. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, he won the 5000- and 10,000-meter races. In the 2019 Doha competition, he also won gold. According to our reports, Joshua Cheptegei got married to Carol Yeko Cheptegei, his longtime girlfriend. Before Cheptegei became well-known, they had already met. Two months later, Carol began to see his potential as a result. Yeko is a skilled civil engineer who also manages the Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation while running her own business in Kampala, Uganda.
The two lovers were blessed with two children: their son, Jethan Cheptegei, and their daughter, Jenima Cheptegei.
Joshua Cheptegei is a public person. Although it is only natural to be interested in the romantic history of one of the world’s fittest and most attractive women, he does not pander to the curiosity.
