The BanskoBystricka 2023, a world athletics silver tour (indoors) is scheduled to take place on February 14, 2023, in Slovakia. It is an annual indoor high jump competition that is held at the Stravinsky Sports Hall in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. A group of athletics enthusiasts, including Ľubomír Roško, Július Nyárjas, Róbert Ruffíni, and Robert Rozim founded the event in 1993.

The first iteration of the event took place in the Štiavničkách Sports Hall of Slovakia. The competition saw Šárka Kašpárková win the women’s contest with a Czech record of 1.95 meters. The event instantly grabbed the attention of many high-caliber European athletes. The 2004 Summer Olympics champion and the four-time World Indoor Champion Stefan Holm has clinched the title on four occasions, the highest in the men’s category. While the Croatian two-time world indoor and outdoors champion Blanka Vlašić has won the maximum number of titles (4) as a female athlete.

BanskoBystricka 2023: Will Yaroslava Mahuchikh make a hat-trick of titles this season?

Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the reigning 2022 European high jump champion from Ukraine, will make a comeback to the Banskobystrická latka. The 21-year-old Mahuchikh has featured here for the last four years,  capturing first place in both 2020 and 2021. She notably cleared a meeting record of 2.06 meters in 2021, moving up to third-tied on the indoor all-time list. This mark still stands as her personal best, even though she also set a world record outdoors of 2.05 meters at the Brussels Diamond League meeting in September 2022. The Banskobystrická latka meeting organizers made the announcement shortly after Mahuchikh made an encouraging 2023 debut on Saturday at Demyanyuk Memorial in Lviv, where she displayed a fine performance and cleared 2.00m before coming up short at 2.03m.
