Cursa dels Nassos 2022, The Race of the Noses, World Athletics Label Road Race: Everything You Need To Know

The Cursa dels Nassos is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 31, 2022. The race will begin at 17:15 on Carrer Selva de Mar. All citizens are invited to take part in the race. The minimal age for participating the competition is 16 years old. The distance is 10 kilometers and it is measured and approved by the Catalan Athletics Federation and the RFEA. The race will end at 6:50 p.m., giving runners 1 hour and 25 minutes to complete the course.

Participants in the wheelchair category will depart at 5:13 p.m. The remaining departures will occur in three stages: the first at 5.15 p.m., the second at 5:18 p.m., and the third at 5:23 p.m. The actual time will be considered in the category classification. Prizes will be given to the top three finishers and the first finisher, who will receive their trophies at the end of the race in the podium area. Trophies will be awarded in each category i.e., absolute, visually impaired, wheelchair, etc. if there are at least three participants.

The Cursa dels Nassos will feature Jakob Ingebrigtsen as its leading performer.  The 1500-meter Olympic and 5000-meter world champion will race in Spain for the first time with his brothers Henrik and Filip, who are both 1500-meter continental winners. On December 31, thousands of runners will take part in the annual Cursa dels Nassos, the season’s final race in Barcelona. This year marks the race’s 24th anniversary and confirms the extremely fast 10-kilometer course. A 5-kilometer international race will be held, like in prior courses. The current world records in the male and female categories, held by Ejgayehu Taye (14:19) and Berihu Aregawi (12:49), were established in 2021.
