The ratings for this week’s edition of AEW Collision on TNT seem more like the second week than they did for the third episode last week.

The main event on July 8 featured CM Punk wrestling his old enemy Samoa Joe, which appears to be a far greater hook than CM Punk commentating while his old opponent Samoa Joe is in the main event. Last Saturday’s performance drew 580,000 viewers and a.21 rating among people aged 18 to 49.

Both increases are substantial compared to the last night and are on par with the June 24 broadcast that featured Punk in an eight-man tag fight. When compared to other cable originals, Collision ranked #5 in the demo. The initial (free) Wrestlenomics report doesn’t tell us how the other shows fared, but it does say that ESPN’s 8 p.m. ET broadcast of the UFC 290 prelims, which competed with AEW’s show, was the highest-rated cable program of the night (with a.32 demo rating). We don’t have any information on how many people watched ABC’s broadcast of the prelims or what their ratings were.
