Vince McMahon steps down: Twitter reacts to Vince McMahon’s misconduct allegations

WWE has released a statement saying that Vince McMahon has stepped down from his role as Chief Executive Officer and that his daughter, Stephanie McMahon has been named the interim CEO and Chairwoman. This news comes amid investigations into alleged misconduct committed by Vince and John Laurinaitis, who is the head of talent relations in WWE. Vince is set to appear on SmackDown later today to address the situation.

What exactly happened with Vince McMahon?

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal had reported that McMahon paid multi-million dollars to women who allegedly had sexual relationships with him to keep quiet. The allegations were spurred on after the board was contacted by someone who knew an employee who left the company earlier this year and who received a $3 million payment. It subsequently uncovered other payments and legal agreements with other women, according to the report.
