One of the most recognisable and adored wrestlers in the history of wrestling is none other than The Undertaker. The Undertaker, who is known for his great in ring acumen and mic skills struck fear into the hearts of his opponents and often played mind games and won the match before the bell even rang.

Taker fought a lot of great wrestlers during his time as an active wrestler in the WWE and one of the most underwhelming matches that he had was against Giant Gonzalez at WrestleMania 9 in 1993. Gonzthalez stood over 7 feet tall and weighed over 400 pounds, making him one of the largest wrestlers to ever step foot inside the ring. More than his in-ring capabilities, fans were intimidated by his sheer size and added to that he had a really scary face.

The battle between the two behemoths was awaited by fans around the world but when the match started, it was certain that it would not live up to its billing. Gonzalez struggled in the ring and mostly used his size and muscle to overwhelm Taker. On the other hand, The Undertaker did everything in his power to make sure that the match was going through smoothly.

The Deadman attempted to knock Gonzalez out early on in the match by using a sequence of clotheslines and punches which were his trademark but they proved to be futile as Gonzalez was just too strong and big for him. Both the wrestlers did not know what to expect from each other and had a series of clumsy moves which left the fans underwhelmed.

One of the most embarrassing moments of the match came when the Giant removed his bodysuit to show off a muscle suit which resulted in derision from the fans inside the arena. Harvey Wippleman, who was the Giant’s manager, threw a cloth soaked with chloroform which was used to knock out Taker. The referee saw this and awarded the win to The Undertaker by disqualification.

The Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez aftermath

The match between the two giants proved to be a dead rubber and one of the most underwhelming bouts of the event. The crowd, who were so invested in the match from the beginning lost interest from the get go and were booing as the action was taking place.

Nonetheless, this match proved to be very pivotal for The Undertaker as he was elevated to superstar status after this. He went on to fight the likes of Hulk Hogan, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin later on and solidified his status as the most dominant wrestler on the planet.
