Puerto Rico and Cameroon will be going up against each other with the intention of getting their first points in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022. Both sides have played three and lost them all till now in the competition. Occupying the bottom two places in Pool A, these two teams will be eager to finally open their account in the upcoming fixture. The tournament which is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year will take place from 23rd September to 15th October.
There are some tough teams present in Pool A and Puerto Rico had to face them all in their opening three matches. After losing to Belgium in their opener, they were also beaten by Italy and co-hosts the Netherlands. On the other hand, Cameroon’s journey has neither been easy. They were beaten by Italy in their opener before suffering another defeat to the Dutch nation. In their last match, Cameroon were involved in an all-African battle, but in the end, Kenya won the game 3-0. As it stands, Puerto Rico and Cameroon are fifth and sixth respectively in Pool A, with both sides having zero points to their name.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
