The Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship 2023 is all set to kick off on August 19 and will wrap up on August 26, 2023. Volleyball fans can catch the action in person at two different arenas in Urmia, Iran – Ghadir Arena and Shahidan Ahandoust Hall. This is the 22nd time the championship is being held, and it’s a joint effort between Iran’s Volleyball Federation and the Asian Volleyball Confederation. The competition offers a stage for the senior men’s teams from countries that are part of the Asian Volleyball Confederation.
Out of the 17 countries taking part, 12 progressed to the knockout rounds. These include Iran, Pakistan, China, India, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, Iraq, Qatar, and Thailand. The semi-finals will feature four teams: Iran, China, Japan, and Qatar. Meanwhile, South Korea and Chinese Taipei are set to face off for the fifth and sixth spots. Teams from Bahrain, Thailand, Pakistan, and Indonesia will be vying for ranks seven through ten.
On August 25, 2023, Iran will take on China in the semi-final of the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship 2023. In the Round of 12, Iran defeated Pakistan by 3-0 and directly progressed to the semi-final. China got the better of South Korea by 3-1 in a quarter-final match to advance to the semis. Iran will definitely be considered as the favorites in the clash against China.
